People often say the older you get, the wiser you get. You don’t often hear them say the older you get, the stronger you get. Why not? Age really is just a number, after all. There are numerous ways to keep your body performing at its best regardless of your age. For some, that may mean getting stronger as they age.
Find Your Routine
One of the most important parts of a healthy life is finding a healthy routine. Once you find that routine, it’s important you stick to it, but don’t be afraid to mix it up, too, as needed. You shouldn’t be doing the same workout at 65 that you did at 25. Find your routine and stick to it.
- Play tennis or pickleball
- Go for a swim
- Take a 15-minute walk after dinner
- Play a round of golf, but use a pull cart instead of a riding cart

A balanced diet is just as important (if not more) than a balanced workout. Your diet changes as you get older. One important thing to remember is that no matter your age, it’s crucial you’re getting enough protein. Also, don’t skip breakfast. One of the biggest factors in weight gain is skipping breakfast, or breakfast and lunch and then just having one huge meal at the end of the day. Make sure you’re eating right. Don’t Overdo It
Mid-life crisis can be tough. Some people might buy a sports car they can’t afford, or maybe they decide they’re going to run a marathon without the proper training just to prove they can still kick it at their age. Overdoing it leads to injury. Injuries lead to repeat injuries and chronic pain. Chronic pain prevents you from being active. Not being active prevents you from staying healthy. See how the dominos fall? Don’t overdo it. Listen to your body.
